Soul Reasons for Life Challenges

Without the meaning that flows from a higher view, we remain stuck in our human experience, believing (understandably) that these things should never happen. For trauma survivors on a healing journey, we need to consider the broader vision to find purpose in our suffering, and step into our soul warrior authority.

Reason 5: Correction

Our soul wants to correct false or mistaken feelings and beliefs

In our conversation, author Robert Schwartz introduced the fifth reason as, “A subset of healing [which is] very important and very common…that is, [correcting] false feelings or beliefs about oneself.” We can develop ideas in lifetimes that are “highly discordant” to the soul. Two common ones are “feeling powerless, and feeling unworthy, even worthless.” While we may have these strong beliefs on a human level, it does not make it true for the soul. A million people could believe something for a million years, and it still would not necessarily be the truth. According to Robert, “the soul knows that is absolutely not true, and wants the personality to heal or release the false belief or the false feeling.”

Incarnating here provides an ideal environment to find out what is inside us and heal it. Robert explained that mirroring is, “A fundamental function of life in the third dimension–it is set up to mirror us back to us.” The Hermetic principle states this also: “As within, so without.” We attract a reflection of what we hold within. Therefore, “if you have one of those false beliefs or feelings, you end up magnetizing to yourself experiences that seem on the surface to confirm [them].” We always confront self.

Robert emphasized the loving nature of spirit. He shared that while “this sounds very harsh and punitive, that’s not the universe’s intention.” It mirrors our inner state, both positive and negative aspects, “so that we find out what’s within us…so that we can heal whatever needs to be healed.” God wants us to know ourselves, and evolve into our divine potential. Earth provides a brutally honest but lovingly supportive mirror for us.

Just as it is important to not blame Source for the difficulties we may attract, we must also be careful to not judge ourselves. As survivors, we can fall too easily into guilt, blaming ourselves for everything. I call this “over-responsibility.” The negative self-beliefs we acquired from abuse or neglect reappear in external forms, not to punish us and not to confirm our badness, but to grab our attention.

Once we see something, we have choices. Our soul wants us to choose love and correct them.

This is an excerpt from my upcoming book, Trauma Survivor to Soul Warrior: Reconnect With Your True Self (due to be published in September 2025 by Manuscripts Press LLC).

I am looking forward to sharing it with you.
