The Benefits of Therapy

“When your back is to the wall and you are facing fear head on, the only way is forward and through it.”

Stephen Richards

Psychotherapy requires time and money. It takes strength and courage to address our wounds. It involves the loss of old patterns of self-protection and identity. It is not for the faint-hearted.

But for those motivated by enough suffering and frustration, who are ready to do the inner work to create change, anything is possible with time and consistency.

Therapy is about seeing and freeing the things that no longer serve us, such as unresolved trauma, addictive behaviours, negative self-beliefs, defensive patterns. It creates more space to breathe, think healthier thoughts, allow emotional stillness.

We gain more range of movement, like a joint freed up from an injury. We can get on with our lives more easily, more comfortably, with greater flow.

My clients often use the words, “I feel lighter” after doing a process. By facing and embracing our darker parts, more light gets in. Our peace, joy, contentment and purposefulness all increase.

I wish such benefits for you too.

“When I have been listened to and when I have been heard, I am able to re-perceive my world in a new way and to go on. It is astonishing how elements that seem insoluble become soluble when someone listens.”

Carl R. Rogers
