Two worlds, one choice

Apr 24, 2022

A desert is a desert is a desert. You can do anything you want in it, but cannot change it from what it is. It still lacks water, which is why it is a desert. The thing to do with a desert is to leave.   ACIM T-1.43.12:2-5.

Here Jesus speaks of the metaphorical desert of a solely external, egoic, unsatisfying life; to leave is to turn inwards and seek the eternal, transpersonal, spiritual. We have spoken before about our challenges in choosing the ‘love wolf’ over the ‘fear wolf’. Our key task in life seems to be developing awareness of this duality within ourselves and without, noticing the creative power and consequences of our choices in both directions, and aligning ourselves increasingly with the Love - Life - Light of our deepest, truest Will.

Now more than ever we seem to be in a world polarised between dark agendas and the birthing of a new consciousness. The control and confusion generated by dark spiritual forces have rotted the old establishments to the core; politics and business, media and entertainment, financial, medical and legal systems… decades of corruption are now revealed in brazen, global attempts to disempower humanity, depopulate the planet and keep the remainder in servitude to a ruling elite.

For those not entrained to the mainstream programming, a dawning of a better earth is clearly breaking through. Massive grassroots shifts towards community, equality, heart-centred living and respect for nature are quietly yet irrevocably transforming the collective. Co-creating through mutual support, the sharing of gifts and resources, valuing of people and life over material things, listening to intuition and instinct as well as intellect; the love wolf is waking, and it’s a She.

While it is so easy and tempting to get caught up in the external manifestations of love and fear, there is a point where knowing what is going on tips into trauma, and we wind up frozen like a rabbit in the headlights. Too much information. It is important to be informed, but unwise to focus on the dark and become overwhelmed. We end up inadvertently feeding the very forces we wish to transmute.

Our power lies within: the way to change our world is to keep working on ourselves, clearing old fear-guilt-rage to make way for ever greater peace-truth-love. Love will win out in the long run, because ultimately “only love is real” (ACIM Intro) in the same way that darkness is just the temporary absence of light, not real in itself. But how quickly and brightly that Love shows up around us is totally dependent on our personal contributions. We want a world of Love? Be the change.

We but mirror the world. All the tendencies present in the outer world are to be found in the world of our body. If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. This is the divine mystery supreme.   Mahatma Gandhi
