The Why, What, and How of a Soul Warrior’s Journey
Nov 11, 2025Over my thirty years as a therapist, I have often noticed people healing to a point but unable to go any further. Standard psychology can be very helpful for resolving issues and clearing childhood trauma. However, to fully shift and let go of our pain, we eventually need to access our spiritual perspective. This is how we can make sense of what we endured and find purpose, meaning and eventually forgiveness.
I felt called to write Trauma Survivor to Soul Warrior to bridge that gap. So many of the wonderful clients I am privileged to work with have a deep yearning for greater soul connection and the freedom that brings. They have an openness to exploring the spiritual dimension and drawing on richer resources of love and light. Therapy always becomes a spiritual journey in time, because the spirit is what we are beneath the layers of our humanity.
The first part of the book, Involution, unpacks why our soul chooses to take on the challenges of earth and the nature of the traumatic stress we get stuck in. We gather some useful maps to make sense of human 'rock-bottom.' I share in detail my SAFE model of healing: Seeing and Accepting our Fragments so they can Elevate. These chapters equip and encourage the soul warrior for the second half of the book, Evolution.
To journey home from trauma survivor back to spiritual empowerment, we climb the healing tree. The three levels are: roots, where we explore ways to do the heavy lifting of clearing old emotions and regulating our nervous system; trunk, where we use powerful psychology and hypnotherapy to understand and correct faulty beliefs and misalignments; and branches, where we incorporate spiritual perspectives to help us let go of our wounding. We then move beyond the canopy to reconnect with our soul, and finally unpack the gifts of our suffering.
I have filled the book with case studies, practical exercises, guided practices, personal experiences, and clear explanations. My intention was to create an easy to read, yet rich and comprehensive resource combining best-practice psychology and liberating spirituality. Feedback so far has been very positive and appreciative.
I have self-published two books and an audio program in the past, which I am proud of. But this time, I knew it needed to be a fully professional creation. I was guided to Manuscripts Press LLC, an excellent publishing house based in Washington, DC. I had an inspiring conversation with the founder, Eric Koester, and there started an amazing sixteen-month journey.
Writing and marketing classes, six separate stages of editing, cover design and layout, and many other components. I have learned and grown so much throughout the process. At times, it was so challenging I even considered stepping away; at times, the sense of achievement was so satisfying my heart would dance.
Everyone has a book in them. Eighty percent of people have writing a book on their bucket list, yet only two percent complete it. I feel proud to hold my 'book baby' now, and grateful for all the generous care from editors, guides and my early supporters.
Mostly, I feel a deep compassion for anyone who has suffered significantly, and I hope my book in some way inspires and uplifts you. I offer it to you, dear soul warrior, with love and deep respect.
