Another simple activity to clear strong emotion

It can be hugely challenging when strong emotions arise. Maybe we are going through difficult life events, maybe old memories are being triggered, or maybe it’s both. In other newsletters, we have explored the importance of facing and understanding old feelings. In this series of 3 newsletters, we will focus on practical tools to help us release them forever.
3. River
We have been activated into strong emotion. We have moved our body to help release the chemicals, and written them down to get them out of our heart and mind.
Now let us go to a third practical technique to assist our healing the old feelings out forever.
Imaging yourself sitting by a river. A beautiful river of clean, clear water. As the water flows past, you sit on the river bank in a calm, neutral mind-space.
Now notice as an old emotion flows down the river in front of you. Maybe the water changes colour as the old energy moves through. Maybe it turns dark, or some strong colour. I have even seen my river turn into bubbling lava as old rage has passed by.
The key here is to simply observe. Don’t pull away or avoid. Also, don’t touch it, engage with it, or wade into the waters of this old energy. You already know all you need to know about it. Now it is time to release it and completely let it go.
Perhaps the darker patch moves through quite quickly. Maybe you are wondering when it is ever going to end. Whatever your experience, be okay with it as you allow your river to carry this old residue away. Know that the universe knows how to transmute whatever it is back to pure light.
It can help to remind yourself that every experience you have had has led to growth. Even the darkest residue now flowing past has been cause for your soul evolution.
When your river is flowing clean and clear once more, pause to notice how you feel. Same as before or different?
