Finding Joy

May 05, 2024

Are you too serious? I certainly can be at times. Doing our inner work means facing the difficult fears that lurk in the shadows, in order for them to shift and heal. We have to get our hands dirty for the dark to be transmuted.

The danger however, is that we get too focused on the negative and lose sight of what we really want. We end up churning in the mud, rather than washing it away in the fresh, clear waters of love.

One quality we might hope to increase through our growth work is joy (I will explore three other qualities in the next few newsletters). Joy is a higher frequency than just being happy. It is a state of knowing all is well in life, an uplifted feeling of deep pleasure as we experience alignment with our true nature and our connection with All That Is.

A gentle ecstasy as we rest in the everlasting arms of truth.

Suggestion:

Reflect on moments in your life when you felt real joy, even if only for a second.

Where were you? What were you doing? What was going on in your mind at the time?

By being curious about the conditions of our joyful moments, we can find clues to having more, such as:

Acceptance of self, others, life
Seeing the positive, beautiful, meaningful elements around us
Noticing our connection with others, the earth, a Greater Source
Choosing gratitude for what is already present

How can you bring more joy into your experience, to replace the old energies?

“They say a person needs just three things to be truly happy in this world: someone to love, something to do, and something to hope for.” Tom Bodett

“When you do things from your soul, you feel a river moving in you, a joy.” Rumi

“Joy is the infallible sign of the presence of God.” Pierre Teilhard de Chardin
